Albania

Not many have been there. Not many more have any idea how it looks like. For decades during the Cold War this was a autarchic communist dictatorship which was closed both for the West as well as for the East. The world ignored it and forgot about its existence.
After the fall of communism, Albania was one of the poorest countries in the world. It is progressing and developing quickly, but it still needs a lot to catch up.
It’s assets are a great Mediterranean climate, picturesque coast, wild nature in the mountains, friendly and hospitable people and pleasant prices. Add to it a good cuisine, which is a mix of Italian, Balkan and Turkish and you have a quite good base of reasons to visit this once remote place.
